Chelsey's Story

Chelsey joined Skills for Growth on the Foundations programme and has now progressed on to complete an Apprenticeship in Childcare.

Here Chelsey tells us her story about why she joined Skills for Growth and her experience of the Foundations Programme. 

"Before foundation learning I was sat at home looking for part time jobs or college and wasn’t having any luck at all. 

I felt that the foundations programme was great as it helped me to prepare for a childcare apprenticeship and helped me look for a job and to prepare for working life. I feel that I developed self confidence and it helped me to progress on to a childcare apprenticeship. I really developed my CV writing skills.  I also learnt what an apprenticeship was and what to expect whilst doing one.

I moved on to a childcare apprenticeship with Zoom nursery in Eltham. From doing my apprenticeship I have completed my level 2 and I have managed to build bonds with my tutors/assessors and I have also managed to work in a team at work and learnt how to get along with all staff members. I have now finished my level 2 and I hope to progress on to level 3.

After achieving this I would one day like to be a room leader at my setting and be able to run a room’
