Skills for Growth Registered Charity
As well as being a specialist training provider delivering Government Funded Apprenticeship programmes, Skills for Growth is also a local charity covering the London Boroughs of Newham, Bexley and Greenwich. Our aim is to provide young people with the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a fulfilling and prosperous life. We offer alternative provision to the academic route allowing our learners to earn while they learn and gain the skills needed by local, regional and national employers. Many of these employers have stated that young people leaving the educational sector do not possess the correct skills and attributes needed for their business. Skills for Growth works to address this skills gap.
Skills for Growth believes that the current Government commitment to Apprenticeships is a great step towards ensuring everyone possesses the correct and relevant skills needed for the career path they would like to follow. We also recognise however that there are many other attributes which need to be developed and supported. Many of our learners come from disadvantaged backgrounds and have often experienced hard ship in their life. Some have recently left the care system; many have health, family and financial problems which need to be overcome and may have been a barrier to them leaving the formal educational route. Skills for Growth will work with every learner to help them overcome these barriers and join our programmes.

Young people and the community are therefore at the heart of everything we do and we are unable to continue to provide this high quality service without your help. As we are a local charity we rely on donations and your support to deliver everything listed in these pages. We receive a Government grant to cover our direct training costs but organisations are being expected to deliver more for less and we believe that young people need as much support as possible to help them truly excel.
